Madhuri Mania

After her stint as a dance reality show judge on Jhalak Dikkhlaa Jaa 4 on Sony Entertainment, actor Madhuri Dixit Nene is back in town. This time she’s accompanied by chef and TV anchor Sanjeev Kapoor, and the show is a culinary competition on the food channel, FoodFood. Mahachallenge, where Madhuri will reprise her role as a TV judge, is yet to go on floors.

So, is she prepared for her kitchen debut on the tube? “Yes, but it’ll be a disappointment for those who’ll tune in assuming I’m going to wear the chef’s hat and apron and stir up yummy food,” says Madhuri, adding that she will only mentor her team of female cooks. “Even when I enter the kitchen, I can’t directly tell them what they have to do. I can hint, but without making it obvious.”

The concept of the show dwells on the battle of sexes. Two teams consisting of eight men and women each have been formed after conducting auditions across the country. The team of male chefs is headed by Sanjeev, and the other by the actor. So who, according to Madhuri, make better cooks — men or women?

The actor responds with a laugh, “I think it’s got to be women because they’re infinitely more graceful, patient and creative. My husband thinks it’s the opposite and we end up having funny arguments on this. At times, it even leads to a cooking competition at home, which is a win-win for everyone. He makes excellent salads for me and I end up feeding him spicy chicken tikka masala. Not bad!”
