Sundays hold great importance for actor Madhuri Dixit Nene. The reason, the actor explains is simple. “As an actor I’d forgotten what Sundays are like. I’d worked round the clock and on all days. The day of the week had stopped mattering to me,” she reveals.

But now the actor — who’s based in Denver, US with hubby and her two kids — reveals that she cherishes the weekends she gets to spend with her family. “Arin and Ryan (her kids) have made Sundays the most looked forward to days once again for me,” laughs the dhak dhak star. “They are busy with school during weekdays, so weekends are special when I get to spend time with them,” she adds.

Talking about her downtime, the yum mum of Bollywood says that she enjoys being the homemaker there. “There are so many things that I could never do in India, so even simple things like doing your own grocery shopping is fun for me,” says Madhuri. “So, I do a bit of gardening, and cooking, watch movies and read lots of books. I think I’m basically making up for all that I couldn’t do as an actor back home.”

“Cooking,” she says, is also something that she’s grown to enjoy. “Initially it used to be quite a disaster. But slowly I started enjoying the process and have now grown to love it. I think cooking is a great de-stressor too.”

As for spending Sundays with family, she reveals that they usually have barbecue lunches planned on Sundays. “It’s healthy and great fun too. All through the week we are so busy with work, so it’s like a big bonding session for the family catching up with each other on Sundays,” she says. “We often go camping or catch movies. Park outings are also something that we all look forward to. We also often have friends visiting for dinner, so it’s like impromptu get-togethers,” she says.
