Madhuri Mania

There has been talk in B-town about Madhuri signing up for the remakes of Satte Pe Satta and Ishqiya, she is quick to deny the same. “Let me clarify that I haven’t been approached for these roles, and I haven’t got the script yet. I have watched Ishqiya and loved it. I haven’t signed anything yet. Once I sign a film, I will announce it the very same evening. There is nothing to announce as of now,” she quips.

These days, the gorgeous Madhuri Dixit-Nene is busy endorsing Sanjeev Kapoor’s exclusive food channel, Food Food. Food is something we cannot live without. It is a necessity and, sometimes, also a luxury that Indians are extremely passionate about, feels Madhuri Dixit. The lovely Dhak Dhak girl herself loves eating and cooking in equal measure! She talks to us about culinary delights.

Hubby’s favorite
He loves North Indian food like chicken tikka masala with naan, and anything spicy. He loves non-vegetarian food, and chicken is his favorite. I learnt all the North Indian dishes to impress him.

The Indian way
Being Indians, we love food! Even in our daily conversations with friends, we talk about what Mom made today, which is the new food joint in town, what is the specialty of different places, etc. You can see so many restaurants in Mumbai today, so many cuisines. So, I believe Indians are very passionate about food. We discuss lunch while having breakfast, we decide dinner while eating lunch. That’s the way we love food.

Bollywood foodies
Every family in Bollywood loves to eat. I have worked with Yash Chopra and team, Kapoor and team, and with Rajshree Films. Believe me, they all love to eat. Our conversations used to start with food.

Memorable food moments
I was shooting for Rajshree, where you only get vegetarian food. Someone asked me why I was not eating so, I replied ‘Tel bahut zyada hai.’ Suddenly, someone said ‘Kal se khana ghee mein banega’, as they really care for their employees so much. That was such a memorable moment for me.

First trial
I am very fond of kande pohe, so that was the first dish I learnt to cook. It turned out quite nice.

First dish for Mr.Nene
As I said, my husband loves non-vegetarian food. The first dish that I made for him was prawns, but it was a disaster, as I cooked them more than required. He felt like he was eating rubber.

One challenging dish
You know, when I started cooking, I found it tough. I will say American cooking is very easy: you take a bun, put some vegetables and sauces in, and it is ready. Indian cooking is different: you have to cut, then you bake it or you fry it, and also make a curry. Indian cooking is quite complicated, so I found it a little difficult. I believe that whatever you make will be good in taste if you make it with your heart.
