"For all my fans, we r relocating W to India! It will b good to b back home," Dixit wrote on her Twitter account Sept. 17 night.
The actress, now 44, is married to Dr. Sriram Nene and the couple lives in Denver, Colorado, with their two sons, Arin, 8, and Ryan, 6.
According to news reports, Dixit has, with the help of longtime manager Rikku Rakeshnath, started scouting for schools for her sons, and is looking for the best opportunity to start working in Mumbai.
Her husband, a cardio-vascular surgeon is reportedly looking at opportunities to work in India.
The family will live in Dixit's flat in the Juhu suburb of Mumbai, home to many Bollywood stars.
Dixit told the Mumbai Mirror that her husband has a few options in Mumbai that he wants to explore. "I think this was going to happen one day anyway... it's preordained. We are all very excited, the kids especially," she told the paper. "Everything is changing rapidly in India. It is a land of opportunities. There is so much to do here." The actress left Bollywood at the peak of her career. She has appeared in numerous films -- both commercial and art-house ones.
She vowed audiences with her brilliant smile and dancing skills and even became the muse for renowned painter M.F. Husain who made the film "Gaja Gamini" (2000) as a tribute to her.
